East Belgium and its tourism organizations 
The most significant point of contact for tourism is surely the tourist office of the eastern cantons with its seat in St. Vith.
From here, marketing of East Belgium or the representation toward others is controlled, in the name of the German Language Community and the Walloon region.
Arising from this tradition, the tourism and beautification associations and the advertisement commissions, with their numerous volunteer helpers, were responsible for the marketing of their respective towns – up until a few years ago.
The tourism office of the eastern cantons has been the coordinator since the 1980s and has successfully initiated - in cooperation with the communities – a more global structure.
In cooperation with the organizations of the neighboring cantons and foreign countries and with the support of euregional funds, the VAO (Tourism office of the eastern cantons) increasingly focuses on “bundled“ advertisement. The Eifel-Ardennes region can thus present itself even more effective and even more cost advantageous within Europe.
